I. Key Content and Skills


Following the 12 step unit plan development process, we reach the point where we must decide what key content and skills will comprise the majority of our unit. This is where your previously completed critical content-concept web will be useful!

While the web provides an overview of concepts and content, we also must include the skills that students will learn and practice as part of your unit! The image below is an example of a content and skills graphic organizer that you might use in your planning!

You can adapt the one above (linked for you at the top of this page) or create your own. Keep in mind that your goal is to cover the content and skills that will help students understand the generalizations and grasp the Essential Standard!

Think about the content and skills that you will use in your own unit. What are the most important? Why have you selected these?

When you are ready, move on to the next step in the process. You will return to this graphic organizer once you have contemplated the assessment approaches that you will be using.
